The Many Colors of the AC15C1 Limited Edition Amps



January 2010 - Vox introduced the "standard" AC15C1 amplifier. This five tube, two channel amp featured reverb, tremolo and Top Boost. It was covered in black basket weave vinyl and brown diamond fret cloth. The corners, vents, handles and knobs were black. A 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker was standard, an optional 12" Celestion Alnico Blue became available in 2013.

December 2010 - Vox introduced the first limited edition AC15C1-RD. It was covered in a special "Vintage Red" basket weave vinyl with contrasting brown diamond fret cloth. The corners, vents, handles and control knobs were black. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered in this model.

January 2012 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 Blue Limited Edition amp. The AC15C1-BL was covered in blue vinyl with the traditional Vox "basket weave" pattern. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handles and knobs were off white. The amp featured a single 12" Celestion Green Back speaker. Production numbers were not offered.

September 2012 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 British Racing Green Limited Edition amp. The AC15C1-BRG was covered in a deep green vinyl with the traditional Vox "basket weave" pattern. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handles, knobs and feet were off white. The amp featured a 12" Celestion Green Back speaker. Production numbers were not offered.

July 2013 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 Purple Limited Edition amp. The AC15C1-PL was covered in an "elegant purple" vinyl with the traditional Vox "basket weave" pattern. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handle, knobs and feet were off white. The amp featured a 12" Celestion Green Back speaker. Production numbers were not offered.

July 2013 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 Cream Limited Edition amp. The AC15C1-CM was covered in an off white vinyl with the traditional Vox "basket weave" pattern. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handles, knob and feet were also off white. The amp featured a 12" Celestion G12M-65 Cream Back speaker. Production numbers were not offered.
January 2014 - Vox introduced the AC15C1-V-RD Limited Edition amp covered in "British Barnet Red" vinyl. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handle, knobs and feet were off-white. The amp featured a 12" Celestion G12 V Series 65 watt speaker. Vox claimed this speaker was designed with a carefully balanced 'recipe' of both old and new design techniques. Production numbers were not offered.

September 2014 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 TV-BC Limited Edition amp. The 1959 era "TV front" cabinet styling was offered in a two tone scheme of either blue/cream or red/cream vinyls. In the US, the red/cream models were offered exclusively at Guitar Center. The amp featured "Tygon" grill. The corners, vents, handles, knobs and feet were also off white. It featured a 12" Celestion Green Back speaker.
Tygon Grill Cloth - Here is a closeup of the "Tygon" grill cloth installed on the 2012, 2013 and 2014 limited editions of the Vox AC15C1. Vox installed a similar grill on a limited number of amps in the early 1960s. January 2015 - Vox reprised the 2010 limited edition AC15C1-RD. The 2015 AC15C1-RD was covered in a more vivid red basket weave vinyl than the 2010 model. It also marked the return to traditional brown diamond fret cloth. The corners, vents, handle and control knobs were black. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered in this model.


January 2016 - Vox announced a limited edition AC15C1-TN amplifier covered in Tan Bronco vinyl and brown Vox grill. The corners, vents, handle and control knobs were black. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered in this model. September 2016 - The AC15C1-BRG2 marked the return of "British Racing Green" basket weave vinyl Vox amps, last used in 2012. The Vox AC15C1-BRG2 also featured classic brown Vox grill cloth and black hardware. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered in this model.


January 2017 - Vox introduced the AC15C1WB limited edition amp covered in "White Bronco" vinyl and classic brown Vox grill cloth. The AC15C1WB featured black plastic corners, vents, handle and control knobs. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Cream Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered. September 2017 - Vox introduced the AC15C1MB limited edition amp covered in "Marroon Bronco" vinyl and classic brown Vox grill cloth. The AC15C1MB featured black plastic corners, vents, handle and control knobs. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Green Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered.


September 2018 - Vox introduced the AC15C1-CB limited edition amp covered in "Cream Bronco" vinyl and classic brown Vox grill cloth. The AC15C1-CB featured cream plastic corners, vents, handle and black control knobs. It was equipped with a 12" G12M Celestion Cream Back speaker. The Celestion Blue Alnico was not offered.

January 2019 - Vox introduced the AC15C1-G12C limited edition amp covered in smooth black vinyl and classic brown Vox grill cloth. The AC15C1-G12C featured Vox black plastic corners, vents, handle and control knobs. It was equipped with a 12" Warehouse "American Vintage Series" G12C speaker, made in Kentucky.

July 2019 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 TTMB Limited Edition amplifier with an unusual two-tone vinyl scheme. The front, center and rear were covered in maroon vinyl with a "tolex" texture. The front and rear of the cabinet body were covered in black "basketweave" vinyl. It also featured brown Vox grill cloth and a 12" Celestion Greenback speaker.

January 2020 - Vox celebrated the tenth anniversary of the AC15C1 by introducing the AC15C1-VB Limited Edition amplifier with classic black Vox grill and basketweave vinyl coverings. The AC15C1-VB also sported black plastic corners, black plastic vents, three black Vox strap handles and a 12" 8 ohm Celestion Green Back speaker.

January 2022 - Vox introduced the AC15C1 "Tan on Tan" Limited Edition amplifier with an unusual two-tone vinyl scheme. The front, center and rear were covered in light tan bronco vinyl. The front and rear of the cabinet body were covered in a darker tan bronco vinyl. It also featured brown Vox grill cloth and a 12" Celestion Cream Back speaker. This model was sold exclusively by Guitar Center and Musicians Friend.

January 2024 - Vox introduced the Limited Edition AC15C1 CVR amplifier in classic vintage red vinyl. The unique grill cloth for the AC15C1 CVR featured a black back ground with gold diamonds. The AC15C1 was devoid of plastic corners but had two black plastic vents, a black Vox strap handle, a 16" 8 ohm Celestion Green Back speaker and a "Thomas" US style Vox logo.
