The P15SMR Pathfinder Mini Stack uses the solid state 15 watt chassis from the Vox Pathfinder Reverb combo amp but now mounted into a head cabinet and coupled to a compact closed back speaker enclosure. It was introduced in 2002.
This has always been one of my favorite amps from Vox, despite it's low price. It not only has all the Vox cosmetics right, it sounds fantastic and is amazingly loud.
Although solid state, this amp has an amazing tube like tone. In addition to Gain, Volume, Treble, and Bass Controls, the P15R even includes Tremolo and spring based Reverb. A Boost switch dramatically increases gain and overdrive.
Two 10" special design Vox speakers are mounted inside the separate closed backed cabinet.
An optional Vox VFS2 foot switch is used to control the reverb and tremolo.
The P15SMR was a limited production item and disappeared from the Vox line in early 2004.
Many thanks to Mike Shumway of the Britins for allowing me to take pictures of his Pathfinder Mini Stack for the Vox Showroom.
