Introduced by Vox in 1963, the black leather Vox Python guitar strap was clad with 24 overlapping chrome plated steel plates, resembling the skin of a snake. The Vox Python strap appeared in Vox catalogs in the UK and US through 1967.

When John Lennon performed with the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964, his RIC 325 guitar sported a Vox Python guitar strap.

To the delight of Beatles tribute bands and John Lennon fans, Vox has reissued the Python guitar strap. It continues to be produced by Vox in limited numbers today and is available from North Coast Music.
