"The Unit" is pictured on stage at the Wilson Park Pavillion on December 20, 1968. Vox gear used by "The Unit" included a Heathkit Jaguar organ, a Vox Royal Guardsman head, a Westminster head, and two Super Beatle bottoms. Members were Al Lendowski (deceased) - bass guitar, Scott Porinsky - drums, Chris Brandenburg - lead guitar, and Gary Hahlbeck (yeah, that's me, DoctorVox of North Coast Music, seventeen years old) on organ.
I also wish to salute Bob Ungemach, my good friend and "the fifth member" of the Unit. Bob built and controlled our lighting and special effects equipment. Among other devices, Bob designed flame throwers and flash pots for the Unit....long before bands like Kiss used such devices in the 1970s.
