Vox Model 8130 Home Organ - 1978

Warwick Industries was a solely owned subsidiary of Whirlpool. In addition to producing "Silvertone" television sets for Sears in the sixties and seventies, Warwick was also the parent company of Thomas Organ.

By the middle seventies, Sears was importing large numbers of televisions from Japan and this shift in purchasing was seriously curtailing production at Warwick. The handwriting was on the wall. Whirlpool divested Warwick to the Sanyo Corporation of Japan in March 1977. However, Thomas Organ was not part of the sale to Sanyo. Whirlpool reorganized the organ business as the "Thomas International Corporation" with headquarters at 7300 Lehigh Avenue in Chicago IL.

The organ shown below was launched in early 1978 by Thomas International Corporation. It briefly reintroduced the iconic Vox brand to the US market. Whirlpool sold the Vox trademark to the UK musical distributor Rose-Morris by the end of 1978, officially ending Vox production in the US.
