The Dave Clark Five and the Vox "Short Tom" Echo Standard

The Dave Clark Five showcased a plethora of Vox gear. All of the amplifiers, the Continental organ and even Rick Huxley's "Symphonic" bass guitar were supplied by Vox. Tucked in the rear, near guitarist Lenny Davidson, was a Vox "Short Tom" Echo Standard that served as both a three channel microphone mixer and an echo unit for the group's vocals.

Tracing the microphone cables plugged into the front panel of the "Short Tom," it appears that one cable went to Davidson's mike and a second dropped down to lead vocalist and organist Mike Smith. A third microphone cable headed across the stage to provide echo to either drummer Dave Clark, saxophonist Denny Peyton or bassist Rick Huxley's microphone.
