Private OEM Labeling for Vox - JBL D120/V90 Loudspeaker
V1133J Vox Royal Guardsman with JBL D-120F Speakers
Most guitar amplifiers built in the 50's and 60's utilized "stock" stamped frame speakers manufactured by Jensen, Oxford or Utah. To satisfy customer demand for the inclusion of more durable and accurate loudspeakers in their amps, Fender started to offer an optional upgrade to JBL speakers as early as 1959. By the mid 60's, Fender offered an optional upgrade to JBL speakers in their Showman, Dual Showman, Twin Reverb and Super Reverb amps.

Thomas Organ followed Fender's lead in 1968 by offering an optional upgrade to JBL speakers in their V1143J Beatle Deluxe and V1133J Royal Guardsman models. This upgrade replaced the stamped frame UK made Celestion "Silver" Alnico speakers originally supplied with the Royal Guardsman amp with a pair of JBL 12" D-120F cast frame speakers having 4" edge wound voice coils.

Vox models featuring JBL speakers included a plastic "JBL" nameplate at the bottom center of the grill.
