The solid-state chassis for the amplifier stage of the Vox Series 90 V131 was located at the inside bottom of the powered speaker enclosure. In addition to serving as a 60 watt RMS power amp, the V131 chassis generated the DC voltages required to operate a Series 90 V132 or a V133 preamp control section. Thomas Organ rated the V131 power amp stage at 60 watts @ 1% distortion or 65 watts @ 5% distortion.

The V131 60 watt Series 90 chassis was essentially an updated version of the power amplifier section of the Vox Royal Guardsman. Both shared the same power and interstage transformers, output and driver transistors, 2500 uf FP Mallory "twist lok" filter capacitors, nine pin connector audio/power supply and metal chassis. The V131 Series 90 chassis added an additional set of 1500uf Mallory FP "twist lok" capacitors for better filtering to the DC preamp power supply.
